Jacinthe Lessard-L is an interdisciplinary artist based in Montreal. She has completed her M.F.A. at Concordia University under the supervision of Raymonde April. Her artistic work explores the generic aesthetics of everyday life and contemporary dwelling spaces while referring to pictorial forms from modernity. She is obsessed with a diversity of artistic movements that promoted great ideals and the remnants of those positivist positions in today’s world, especially in mass-produced objects. Many of her projects also investigate the nature of photography, its historical role, its so-called transparency and its relationship to the referent; what is documented with the camera is often entirely constructed in another medium. It was shown in many exhibitions across Quebec, in Toronto, Nancy, Goteborg, Glasgow and recently in reGeneration 2: Tomorrow's photographer today at Musée de l'Élysée in Lausanne, Aperture Foundation in NYC and around the world.
